Couples Financial Therapy

Virtually for clients in Raleigh and across North Carolina and South Carolina.

I help Millennial and Gen Z Couples who have a hard time talking about money, stop avoiding these conversations and start working as a team to achieve they individual and shared financial goals for the future.

Despite being happy in other areas of your relationship, you struggle to manage money in a way that feels good to BOTH of you. On the outside you seem to have it all together but inside you are both struggling.

You feel discouraged because your differences around money are keeping you from getting on the same page and working together toward shared goals.

One of you feels worried and stressed when thinking about money and so you have let your partner manage the money which has made it easier for you to avoid in the short-term but leads to anxiety and fear of the unknown in the long-term.

You compare your financial situation to other couples your age, or at least your perception of their financial situation, and feel like you aren’t doing as well as them.

You feel nervous about the idea of sharing your finances and feelings about money with anyone. You are worried about feeling judged.

Money shame runs deep! It makes you believe you aren’t good enough because of your salary, spending habits, or amount you have saved.

Most people were taught not to talk about money and believe if you aren’t “good with money” that it’s your own fault. It’s not your fault! The financial system wasn’t designed to be easy to understand.

It takes a lot of courage to be open about your money stuff, especially in your relationship.

If you want to feel good about your relationship with money and the relationship you and your partner have around money, I’d love to help you get there!

Like most couples, traditional gender roles may have impacted the way you view the management of finances in your relationship.

You have been shamed into believing that the only way to achieve financial “freedom” and “peace” is through deprivation and rigidity. That your financial situation is the direct result of how hard you work without any consideration of the impact of the systemic barriers that limit your access to wealth.

You need a safe and supportive space to talk about your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about money without being judged. I will sit with both of you as you face the reality of your financial situation with compassion and acceptance.

We will unpack the ways in which your family, friends, culture, etc. have contributed to the story you each tell yourself about money and identify ways in which this story is playing out in your adult life and in your relationship.

You are the expert on yourself. I have education, training, and experience that help me know ways to guide you toward a healthier relationship with money and each other.

You don’t have to figure this out on your own. It is possible to have a healthy financial partnership.

I am here to help you.
